MY SHORT BIO

Andrea lindstrom Anderson

art

I wrote "It's Been a Journey, a Memoir" during the pandemic, and self published in 2022.

In a nutshell: A seven-year-old vegetarian with a nervous tic becomes a competitive figure skater who wants to be a forest ranger when she grows up, but after twenty-six moves, surviving two wildfires, a collapsing economy in Argentina as well as disdain from the French about her french, she and her husband buy a derelict oyster farm on a remote island that becomes so successful it nearly sends her over the edge.

Life itself is my creative process.  I’m not one thing, but I do many things. I paint, linocut, sew, write, ice skate, farm oysters, read, take photos, hike, row, cook, love on my dogs, family and friends, drink good wine, eat good food, daydream, garden, make stuff.

My formal education resulted in a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Washington.  Thirsting for creative knowledge, I later studied fine art photography at International Center of Photography in NYC, as well as at Silvermine Guild of Artists.  Upon returning to the US after living in Buenos Aires and Paris, I studied oil painting for ten years under the tutelage of Janine Wesselmann in her rural Connecticut studio.  Naturally curious, I find endless inspiration from other creatives, and as a result my creative expression is continuously evolving as I explore new and different processes and techniques.  The majority of my paintings are deeply personal, rooted in the people, places or experiences from my life. Twenty years of my art was destroyed when a wild fire burned my home and studio to the ground in 2017. I am grateful many pieces live on in private collections.

The truth is, I really just like making things. And occasionally I create something I’m proud of.
